How do you make a pie chart stationary while scrolling down in excel?

I have an excel spreadsheet that has a consistently updating pie chart on the right side while the data is on the left. I'd like the pie chart on the right to stay on the page while I scroll through the data on the left. I've tried freezing the panes, splitting the panes, then freezing one side. I can't seem to get it to work. The pie chart rests on a square background and if I click on the chart area or background, the option to freeze the pane greys out. Can someone help?
