What can i do about my broken ipod touch screen?

I bought it less than a month ago from best buy and it fell out of the dock in a friends car and broke the screen. all that is broken is the glass so it needs a replacement pane and apple technical support is telling me its going to cost me 200 bucks for them to repair it. I didnt get the protection plan when I got it because I only had enough money to buy the ipod.
